Market Profile Market Profile is a charting intra-day technique (vertical price horizontal, time/activity horizontal) developed by J. Peter Steidlmayer, trading at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) from 1959 to 1985. Steidlmayer was looking for a method to measure and evaluate the market value developed within the daytime frame. The idea was to display the price vertically with the time displayed on the horizontal. The following graphic typically has an oval shape that is less prominent at a moderate price.
